This is an infographic depicting all the blue-coloured album covers [from 1939 to April 2022] of Blue Note Records. The project brief was assigned from a Communication Design course at Emily Carr University. The final deliverable was mocked as a 12' x 18' mural exhibit.
The assets in the foreground were created using Adobe Illustrator & Photoshop to allusively compose a record player. Each element plays into the other; the grooves on the record track the number of blue covers per decade—the inner ring marks the start of the label. On the left is a pictographic legend of the same information, referencing the original cover designs. The background is a chronological collection of the albums, gray-scaled with a halftone layer to exist as a subtle detail. In total, 561 covers were counted & scored off of the Blue Note archive found on their website.
