Designer, artist, & researcher based in Montréal/Tiohtià:ke.
I am the Laser Engraving Coordinator at Atelier Circulaire & Graphic Designer for Scatterbrain Magazine. I hold a BFA from Emily Carr University, where I specialized in Communication Design & Illustration; where I began to ground my multidisciplinary practice as well.
Recent works facilitate a dialogue between my Bulgarian origin & Canadian upbringing, expressed through the language & material of sentimental objects. To preserve ancestral craft techniques without a learning source, I rebuild patterns from salvaged online sources & bring them into tangible space. Designing textile vectors is a manual pixelation, to replicate the motions of repetitive stitching.
I have been looking at graphic design as a weaver, to find mindful & sustained labours in accelerated digital spaces. To be aware of the details, how they will be organized, & how they relate with each other. Through tactile value & adaptive technologies, my practice has become a way to consider contrasts not as opposition, but a framework of balance.
Otherwise, I am probably collecting breadclips & clovers [with fixations subject to change]. Take care!
