"Flash Mock" [left] is inspired by the neighbourhood of East Van in Vancouver BC. Aside from the cross, designed by Ken Lum, the surrounding motifs are representative of the neighbourhood's culture. Inspired by the tattoos, local business', coffee shops, bars.. Of all which makes up Commercial Ave, I am reminded of the people--especially the ones featured in Seasons of East Van, a documentation of local characters.
"Pretty in Pink" [right] is somewhat of an homage to the first Canadian province I lived in; Alberta. The flash sheet is thematic to the Wild West, but is otherwise an exaggeration of the nature of this land--a glimpse of its past. Alberta otherwise homes The Stampede, Drumheller & the flattest terrains.
This is a two part series which has been illustrated by hand before a digital rendering, in an American Traditional tattoo style. They are complimentary to the other, both in colour & subject; representing the provinces I have made my home. [8.5" x 11"]
