The photos were taken long before the book’s conception, originally 800 taken between my month in Montréal, Québec City & Nova Scotia. Creating this book was a personal documentation, though of the original photographs there’s an added objectivity & distance.
The typeface was a separate tangent that occurred before this book came to be, finding the perfect home in this project (which doesn’t have many words to begin with)
The cover took multiple iterations & a series of experiments until I landed on a design that felt right. Black & white is the graphic colour scheme I follow, which contrasts the focus of colour, form & texture the photo content exemplifies. I view the cover as a dictation/suggestion on how to read the book, looking at the pictures from various perspectives. The cover reminds me of a different dimension, a more abstracted vision of these photographs.
Final copies were printed on recycled white paper & are 4.75"x6.25" in dimension.
